Damson tree demise

9/28/2011

Sadly my huge damson tree blew down in the gales, at least it meant I could get at the damsons more easily and it will make lovely firewood for next year! I have plenty more small trees so no worries for the damson gin supplies. It has been the crop of the centuary, over a hundred pounds

Piglets in the garden

Mostly it’s just neighbour Philips chickens in my garden, but this morning I discovered nine little piglets unearthing worms from my lawn. Delightful though they are, they do a surprising amount of damage in a very short time. At least the hens leave me the occasional egg!

Don’t worry, Philip was quick to come to the rescue and they were rounded up before the entire lawn disappeared. The caravan lawn was untouched and the piglets have gone all the way home!

Pretty cold and windy here with our first sprinkle of snow on the fells, but the sun is breaking through. Thousands of birds gathering in the fields
